The AI Advisory Council was established in 2024 to provide guidance on the ethical, mission-aligned integration of artificial intelligence across campus. The Council unites a broad cross-section of university stakeholders that includes faculty, key staff, and student representatives from across campus that serve as a central advisory body for the university's AI strategy.
Key accomplishments of the Council include:
Designing and analyzing annual AI surveys distributed to faculty, staff, and students to establish baseline data on AI usage and directly shape university programming
Launching the AI Academy to help faculty and staff integrate AI into their teaching, research, and workflows.
Updating Academic Policies including the Academic Integrity syllabus policy (approved for inclusion in the University Catalog) and establishing University Learning Outcomes for AI literacy.
Drafting Institutional AI Guidelines such as the AI Acceptable Use diagram and assisting in drafting a university-wide AI policy grounded in the University Mission
Hosting AI Literacy and Engagement Events including the university's AI Ethics Bowl, custom bot-building workshops, and book discussion groups
Developing Centralized AI Resources featuring official university AI policy details, FAQs, and practical guidance for faculty and students
